The situation in Ukraine on March 31, 2022

General description of the situation. Russia launched a war against Ukraine on February 24, 2022 (36th day of the war). They began with a rocket-bomb attack on 17 Ukrainian cities, first on military infrastructure and now on civilian infrastructure.

Today, March 31, the thirty-sixth day of the heroic opposition of the Ukrainian people to the Russian military invasion has begun.

The threat of using missile weapons on the objects of the defense-industrial complex and logistics infrastructure of Ukraine remains. In the Black Sea are ships equipped with cruise missiles naval base “Caliber”.

In the Volyn direction in the areas of the village of Pinsk, Luninets of the Republic of Belarus, units of the airborne troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were recorded, which were probably withdrawn from the territory of Ukraine.

In the Polissya direction (Chernobyl) the planned regrouping of units of the Eastern Military District continues. It is expected that these units will be moved to other areas.

In the northern direction (Chernihiv) the enemy did not take active action. In the near future, it is expected that the fire on Ukrainian units will intensify in order to ensure the movement of their troops, with the further task of blocking the city of Chernihiv.

In the Slobozhansky direction (Kharkiv) the enemy continues to block Kharkiv, conducting artillery shelling of the city. Carries out the movement of artillery units near the city of Izyum.

In the Donetsk direction, the main efforts of the occupiers continued to focus on taking control of the settlements of Popasna, Rubizhne, as well as the capture of the city of Mariupol. The enemy tried to carry out assault operations in the areas of Popasna, Rubizhne, Novobahmutivka, Marinka, and Zolota Niva. He was not successful.

In Mariupol, the occupiers continue to carry out assault operations. Attempts are expected to launch an offensive in the directions of Kramatorsk and Pokrovsk, as well as to concentrate efforts in the direction of Svitlodarsk.

In the South Bug area, the enemy is taking measures to restore combat capability and replenish supplies.

To control the temporarily occupied territories of southern Ukraine, the enemy is trying to create military-civilian administrations and has begun preparations for a referendum on the establishment of the “Kherson People’s Republic.” To implement this scenario, the work of the

Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, the 652nd Group of Information and Psychological Operations and officers of the 12th Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation is noted.

After the liberation of the village of Mala Rohan near Kharkiv, Ukrainian troops controlled the entire road between the regional center and Chuguev. Also, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the village of Sloboda in the Chernihiv region, the villages of Orlove (Zaporizhzhya region), Zagradivka and Kochubeyivka in the Kherson region.

On March 30, 150 people were evacuated from Irpen, a third of them children. Irpen is 100% under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

1,530 people arrived in Zaporizhia along the agreed three humanitarian corridors: 812 from Mariupol and 718 from Zaporizhia Oblast.

In the Kherson region, the occupiers abducted Oleh Yakhnienko, head of the Mylivka Rural Territorial Community, and Oleksandr Levechko, head of the Novooleksandrivka Rural Territorial Community.

Civilian casualties

As a result of hit of the rocket in the building of regional administration in Nikolaev 16 people were lost. Rescuers pulled their bodies out from under the rubble.

As of March 30, 145 children died as a result of the Russian war in Ukraine. 222 children were injured during the fighting. Children suffered the most in Kyiv – 69, Kharkiv – 49, Donetsk – 54, Chernihiv – 39, Mykolaiv – 30, Luhansk – 28, Zaporizhia – 22, Kherson – 25, the capital – 16, Sumy – 16, Zhytomyr – 15 regions. It is also known that as of March 27, 210 children died in the blockade of Mariupol.
