The situation in Ukraine on March 29, 2022

General description of the situation. Russia launched a war against Ukraine on February 24, 2022 (34th day of the war). They began with a rocket-bomb attack on 17 Ukrainian cities, first on military infrastructure and now on civilian infrastructure.

Today, March 29, the thirty-fourth day of the heroic opposition of the Ukrainian people to the Russian military invasion has begun.

The Defense Forces Group continues to conduct a defense operation in the Eastern, Southeastern and Northeastern directions. In all of them, the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully hold back the enemy, and in some areas our troops carry out successful counterattacks. The Ukrainian Armed Forces pushed the Russian invaders 40-60 kilometers away from Kryvyi Rih. Several settlements were liberated, including in the Kherson region.

The enemy continues to insidiously launch missile and bomb strikes, trying to completely destroy the infrastructure and residential areas of Ukrainian cities. Concentrates on fuel storage, in order to complicate logistics and create conditions for a humanitarian crisis. Yes, the enemy struck at one of the oil depots in Rivne region.

In violation of the requirements of international humanitarian law in some temporarily occupied settlements of Kyiv, Zaporizhia, Chernihiv, Kherson and Kharkiv regions, the Russian occupiers continue to terrorize the local population. They are shelling residential buildings; rob, abduct and hostage civilians, engage in looting. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that some of the Ukrainian mayors abducted by the Russian occupiers had been found dead, and some had not yet been found. The mayor of Balaklia in Kharkiv region cooperated with the occupiers.

There are no Russian troops left in Slavutych. The mayor reported about it. Our defenders managed to liberate the city of Irpin from Russian troops. Makariv also continues to be controlled by our Armed Forces.

The Allied forces repulsed 7 enemy attacks in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions during the day. Defenders of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the previous day hit 17 air targets

– 8 planes, 3 helicopters, 4 UAVs of various types and 2 cruise missiles.

On Monday, March 28, no humanitarian corridors were held due to the high probability of provocations by the occupiers.

Mobilization in Russia will be carried out simultaneously with the planned conscription. This will be a cover for a large number of mobilized people who will arrive at the military registration and enlistment office. It is planned to involve Russian prisoners in the fighting – convicted of robbery, murder, drug trafficking.

Cases of resistance from the local population

In the Russian-occupied Energodar, residents went to a peaceful rally. People demanded the release of the aggressor from the first deputy mayor Ivan Samoidyuk. People held placards with the words “No to War”, “RuZkie home”, “Freedom to Samoydyuk” and others. The participants of the rally also sang the anthem of Ukraine.

In the militant-occupied city of Donetsk, Ukrainians disrupted a propaganda operation by an illegal armed group. Some of the people deported from the recently occupied territories were placed in schools in Donetsk. The head of the DNR, Pushilin, was to arrive there today to film a propaganda story. But the inscription “Glory to Ukraine” appeared at the school in the morning, so the visit had to be canceled. The comments claim that people took to the streets and shouted “Glory to Ukraine” on the city streets.

Civilian casualties

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that 143 children were killed and 216 wounded during full-scale hostilities in Ukraine. Children suffered the most in Kyiv – 67, Kharkiv – 49, Donetsk – 53, Chernihiv – 38, Mykolaiv – 30, Luhansk – 27, Zaporizhia – 21, Kherson – 24, capital

– 16, Zhytomyr – 15 and Sumy – 14 oblasts.

According to available information, the Russian occupation forces are increasingly shelling both the temporarily occupied settlements of the Zaporizhia region and those controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.
