The situation in Ukraine on March 12, 2022

General description of the situation. Russia launched a war against Ukraine on February 24, 2022 (16th day of the war). They began with a rocket-bomb attack on 17 Ukrainian cities, first on military infrastructure and now on civilian infrastructure.

Today, March 12, marks the eighteenth day of the Ukrainian people’s heroic confrontation with the Russian military invasion.

Russian troops continued to carry out missile and bomb strikes on settlements in Ukraine.

At night the occupying troops of the Russian Federation fired on Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Mariupol, Nikolaev, vicinities of Kiev. In the village of Kvitneve, Brovary district, Kyiv region, a fire broke out in warehouses where frozen food is stored. In Chernihiv, bombs fell on the suburbs, residential areas, and in the historic center of the city, severely damaged the neighborhood Sherstyanka, which was fired from “tornadoes”.

In the morning, explosions erupted in the Dnieper, Kropyvnytskyi and Vasylkiv.

An airfield and an ammunition depot were completely bombed in Vasylkiv (Kyiv region).

In almost all directions, the enemy has heavy losses in manpower and equipment, stopped and trying to gain a foothold in previously captured positions.

The difficult situation remains in Luhansk region, where the occupiers have seized 70% of the region’s territory. In the occupied territories, Russian television is connected and enemy fakes are spread. Luhansk region is one of the hottest spots in Ukraine. The shelling continues in the Mountain Community, Popasna, Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, Rubizhne and Kreminna, where the line of defense runs. The Russians are shelling schools, hospitals, kindergartens, hitting water and gas pipelines, and power grids. At the same time, they do not provide an opportunity to restore the damaged infrastructure, humanitarian corridors do not agree.

Since the beginning of hostilities, thirty-one enemy battalion-tactical groups operating on the territory of Ukraine have lost their combat capability.

Most units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are demoralized, the moral and psychological condition of personnel continues to decline, there are cases of captivity by individual groups.

In recent days, there has been a movement of small groups of enemy deserters in the direction of the state border.

Resistance forces operating in the Chernihiv region liberated 5 settlements from Russian invaders.

In the Sumy region, police together with representatives of the Defense Forces detained 29 Russian servicemen.

The invaders of Zaporizhzhya NPP declared the station the property of Rosatom. In addition, according to the Ukrainian company, the Russian military at the Zaporozhye NPP is discussing plans to direct the electricity it produces to the Crimea and the occupied part of Donbass.

Officers of the FSB of the Russian Federation and the Rosguard began searches in the occupied Kherson. They are searching the homes of pro-Ukrainian activists and members of patriotic organizations. Part of the Kherson region remains occupied.

Russian troops occupying Melitopol kidnapped Mayor Ivan Fedorov.

On March 11, Ukrainian media spread information about the shelling of the territory of the Republic of Belarus by Russian planes from the territory of Ukraine. But the Belarusian media,

citing the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus Irina Gorbachev, denies this information.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to destroy the leadership of the occupying forces of the Russian Federation. Thus, on March 11, the commander of the 29th Army of the Eastern Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Major General Andrei Kolesnikov, was eliminated.

Civilian casualties

As of March 11, 2022, since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 78 children have died and more than 100 children have been injured.

In addition, in the city of Mariupol for 12 days of blockade of the city and shelling of residential neighborhoods by Russian occupation forces killed 1582 civilians; Since the beginning of the war, 39 people have been killed in Zhytomyr Region, including 25 servicemen and 14 civilians, including 4 small children.

In the Kharkiv region, 10 civilians have died in the last 24 hours, including three children.
